NIE and residency

The Office Spain - NIE y Residencia

NIE and residency
The N.I.E. is a tax number for foreigners, both residents and non-residents, which allows them to manage affairs in Spain, but it is not an ID document nor does it grant the right to live or work in the country.

The Office offers assistance regarding the obligation of residency or not. EU/EEA citizens must show proof of employment, financial solvency, and health insurance, while non-Europeans need a residence visa.

Being a resident does not automatically mean being a tax resident, which applies if you live in Spain for more than 183 days a year, requiring you to declare global income. The Office ensures an efficient process for all these procedures.
